Standard (Low Flux) Hemodialysis

Hemodialysis is a type of renal replacement therapy that involves the diffusive clearance of uremic toxins. Diffusive clearance occurs within the dialyzer (artificial kidney) where the undialyzed blood and the fresh dialysis solution, separated by a permeable membrane, flow in opposite directions (countercurrent flow).

Hemodialysis is usually performed three (3) times a week for four (4) hours. Dialyzer can be used one time (single use) or multiple times (reuse) by the same patient. Current Hemotek’s policy limits maximum reuse of a dialyzer to eight (8) times.
